Brady Cobb



Brady J. Cobb is a lawyer, lobbyist, strategist and consultant based in South Florida who focuses his practice in the areas of regulated medical cannabis, insurance and viatical settlements, healthcare, real estate development and education law, as well as maintaining a robust business law practice that encompasses complex commercial litigation, administrative law, government relations, commercial transactions, employment law, as well as corporate structuring, compliance and asset protection. In his practice, Brady maintains an active and selective practice for his clients, allowing him to provide a quick and effective response to each client’s individual needs. Whether it is through counseling businesses and individuals on issues before a Legislature or representing clients in front of an executive branch, Brady has a history of skillfully formulating legal and public policy strategies to seek favorable outcomes for his clients. Brady has also litigated complex cases in both federal and state courts across the United States and routinely handles administrative and regulatory matters before state and local governmental agencies. He has served as lead or co-counsel in over 15 jury or non jury trials that were held in federal and state courts, as well as serving as lead counsel in dozens of administrative and quasi-judicial final hearings before state and federal agencies. Notably, Brady has been named to Florida Super Lawyers Rising Stars since 2015 and to Florida Trend’s Legal Elite and is regularly mentioned national and statewide news publications as an insurance, litigation, legislative and regulatory law expert.


Brady has handled several notable cases including: serving as general counsel for an industry leading (and publicly traded) medical cannabis cultivator and it’s US Expansion entity in the successful acquisition of one (1) of the seven (7) medical cannabis cultivation and dispensing licenses in Florida, which required extensive legislative and executive branch lobbying to facilitate the closing of the transaction, intensive contract negotiation amongst a myriad of parties and their counsel, state and federal compliance as it pertains to the controlled substances act, banking and transactional concerns, and obtaining groundbreaking regulatory approvals for a foreign entity to acquire and operate a licensed medical cannabis cultivator and dispenser in Florida; (2) representing a prominent international businessman in his defamation/libel suit against BuzzFeed.com arising out of the publication of the controversial Trump Dossier; (3) representing a leading international biosciences company as its regulatory counsel in a 16 million dollar investment partnership with the University of Miami, Miller School of Medicine for medical cannabis cannaboid therapy clinical trials aimed at treating closed head injuries, (4) consulting and/or providing regulatory and governmental relations services to an international logistics conglomerate that is developing what will be the industry leading RFID seed to sale tracking system for the medical cannabis marketplace, (5) serving on the legal team that represented the Florida Senate in the 2010 redistricting litigation; (6) serving as Florida counsel to K12, Inc. in obtaining approval for the first virtual charter schools in Florida and representing Charter Schools USA, the leading charter school management company, in regulatory and administrative matters before the Florida legislature and the Florida Department of Education; (7) representing marina owners and developers in the successful development of waterfront properties including land use entitlements and financing transactions; (8) representing the life settlements industry nationwide in legislative and executive branch lobbying to implement uniform statutory licensing and regulatory frameworks to provide the industry with expansion and growth potential via capital markets; (9) serving as General Counsel to Dentalplans.com, Inc. for five years as it dramatically expanded its business, inclusive of the sale of the stock of the company for $67 million dollars to a San Francisco based hedge fund in 2012; (10) serving as general counsel to Cancerinsurance.com, Inc. in its growth and expansion, and representing the company in its sale to Tranzact Medica, LLC in 2014 for 14 million dollars and (11) assisting the beneficiaries of the Guma Aguiar estate in globally resolving costly and burdensome litigation involving close to 100 million dollars’ worth of real property in Israel and Florida, among other notable cases.


Prior to forming Cobb Eddy, Brady was a director at Tripp Scott, P.A. in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., a nationally recognized law firm that specialized in business law, complex business litigation, corporate transactions and estate planning, and was deeply entrenched in the local, state and federal political process. Cobb still actively participates in the political process and serves on the host committee for candidates running for local, state and federal office including: Florida Governor candidate Adam Putnam, Fmr. Florida Governor Jeb Bush, Governor Rick Scott, Fmr. United States Ambassador to China and Utah Governor Jon Huntsman, United States Senator John McCain, Fmr. United States Senator George Lemieux, Broward Commissioner Chip LaMarca, and Florida Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater, and a number of local and state governmental officials. Cobb has also formed a strategic relationship with the Hausfeld Firm, which is an international litigation firm with offices in DC, New York, and London.


Active in the local community, Mr. Cobb is a past member of the City of Fort Lauderdale Budget Advisory Board, an active Board Member of the First Tee Foundation, a founding member of the YMCA’s “Y Society”, a former board member of the Heart Gallery, member of the Fort Lauderdale Museum of Discovery and Science, member of the Jack and Jill Foundation of Broward County, and is pro bono counsel to the Eastern Surfing Association and the Surfrider Foundation.


Cobb holds a law degree from Barry University School of Law, where he was awarded the Book Award for earning the highest grade in White Collar Crime and an undergraduate degree in Political Science from Florida State University. Cobb was also a member of the track and cross country teams at Florida State University.
